Maternity Leave
So...I’m 4 weeks postpartum and soaking in my last bit of maternity leave. I still need to schedule my 6 week follow up appointment.
At my work, I’m eligible to take 12 weeks. HOWEVER, I’m only able to take my sick leave for the first six weeks. Anything past that is considered “bonding” leave. Since bonding leave is not medically necessary, I CANNOT take sick leave or short term disability. The only way that I can continue using sick time is if I’m still “medically disabled” and not cleared by my doctor yet.
How can I still be under my doctor’s care for a few more weeks?
My FMLA paperwork states that I will be under care until 10/3, but my work says 8/22 is my last day with pay.
What are your thoughts???
