Successful VBAC birth story!

Taneka

I never imagined I would be able to share a birth story but here I am 3 weeks PP and finally able to share!!

I’m a hair stylist and I’ve said my entire pregnancy that I want my water to break at work just because of the dramatics of it all would be crazy! And I work with 30 other women and nobody’s water has ever broken at work! So Saturday the 13th (38 weeks and 2 days) I was feeling super pregnant, I was so over it this day for some reason and I was telling all the girls to pray for my water to break today! And surely around 1:30pm I felt something leak...Wasn’t sure if it was water so I never said anything while at work. I went home and I continued to have small leaks but I thought it was possibly my mucus plug because it was pink tinged. I decided to take a shower around 4pm and kind of get myself ready Incase we were to go to the hospital and after my shower I never felt any more gushes. We had decided not to go and then at 6:30pm I had a gush that made me really believe it was my water. Got admitted into hospital at 9pm. 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Decided to walk around and get things moving and I Had decent contractions but nothing that was progressing. They decided to Start

pitocin at 2am Sunday the 14th. At 6 am I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced and decided to take nubain pain meds to be able to rest. It made me extremely high and I was able to sleep between contractions. They upped my pitocin at this time as well so things really got intense. My labor was ALL in my back! They told me they believed baby was sunny side up and that’s what was causing all the back pain. I decided to get epidural at 9am because I could not relax my body. 3cm and 100% effaced at this point. Epidural worked amazing and I went completely numb and couldnt feel contractions or anything! I slept until 11:30am and then baby’s heart rate kept dropping at each contraction. The nurse said he had probably flipped face down and the cord was probably wrapped around him causing this and that it was pretty normal so she decided to check me and I was 7cm dilated 100% effaced and had the bloody show. I could now feel pressure of contractions but was able to sleep for one more hour and at 12:30pm I was complete. Doc decided to let me to a practice push to see how soon he should come back and decided to just go ahead and gown up. I pushed for 8 times for 20 mins and he was born at 1:10pm. He in fact had the cord wrapped around his neck and then also wrapped around in torso. I had a second degree tear and a labia tear that he had to remove a small piece of skin. Cason was 7lbs 5oz. 19 in long. Head full of hair! ♥️

If anyone is doubting a VBAC. YOU CAN DO IT! It was amazing and the recovery has been completely worth it!
