How do you lay during c section?

I'm scheduled for a c section in 2 weeks and I'm freaked. How are you laying? what is covered? Do your arms get strapped down? How does it feel? Holy baby Jesus I'm so scared. 3rd baby first c section and I have terrible anxiety/panic attacks..

Don’t stress, it’s not that bad!! I was so worried before mine but it was actually super easy. 30 minutes after anesthesia and you’ll be holding your baby 😊 plus the meds will make you numb for a bit after too. Just gotta take it easy for a few weeks after.

You lay on your back. They put a drape up so you can’t see your abdomen. My arms were not strapped down. I had a hospital gown on to cover my chest but otherwise was uncovered from the breast line down.

Surgical technologist here 😷 For a C section, you’re on your back. One or both arms may be out on arm boards, and may have a strap (for safety!). You’ll have your hospital gown or blankets on while moving to the OR bed, and then those will be removed. You may have a catheter inserted at this time. The surgical team will cover you with a sterile drape. The drape just has a hole in it for your baby bump 😊

I was on my back, laying like Jesus on the cross lol. My arms were strapped. The feeling is different for everyone!

So first thing, you get your epidural just sitting on the bed, leaned onto pillow and a nurse. Then once that’s done, you lay flat on your back. The table is literally just wide enough for you not to hang off of it. They only strapped my arm down that did not have my IV. A nurse told me it’s like that because some women have panic attacks and will try to pull out their IV. Although one arm wasn’t strapped down, I still laid like a “t”. They will spread your legs and place the catheter. I’m not sure if they put them back strait or not, i don’t remember. They also clean your entire belly and pubic area (shave that at home before you go btw) and do a pinch test to make sure you’re numbed well. As soon as preparations are done, they allow your spouse to come in (or whoever you have chosen) and they immediately start the surgery.

I was spread eagle on my back, arms strapped down, but I wasn't afraid; I mean I was, but the nursing staff and my doctor was absolutely amazing and made me feel very comfortable throughout the surgery.
