I know it’s bad, but please help!
So I unexpectedly got pregnant and I am young and still in high school (I’m a senior). My mom is relatively financially stable but had gotten into a car accident a couple years ago that made her lose her job and she’s been struggling ever since, working two jobs and long hours to pay off debts. My dad never signed my birth certificate nor do I have his last name so financial support was never given from him. I am currently under state health insurance and its been a huge help for myself and my mother since I have mental health issues and have been hospitalized many times an have been in therapy & taking medications since the age of 12. Now that I am pregnant , I would like for my child to be on the same health insurance from government as mine until I as well as my child’s father are able to financially pay for all of his health expenses including insurance and so on. It’s the only government assistance needed as we aren’t on food stamps nor do we receive money from government so we aren’t abusing government for those who may think those are my intentions. I truly don’t plan to leach off of government , I just want my child to be healthy until I’m able to financially provide for him all on my own. I currently am unable to work because of health complications in my pregnancy, plus my job (I worked at a warehouse) didn’t allow pregnant women to work to avoid all possibilities of a lawsuit. My child’s father doesn’t have his high school diploma yet either and he works as a waiter at a restaurant and makes maximum $500 on his paychecks and is obligated to pay the woman he stays with $300 for “rent” (my child’s fathers mother passed away when he was 17 so he’s been living with a friend and friends family) and plus I’m pretty sure isn’t enough to cover child expenses. I’m wondering if he signs the birth certificate, will he be obligated to be financially responsible for the child? Will government deny aid because the child has a known mother and father? And If so, what could I do to ensure that my child gets the proper health benefits until we are able to fully financially provide ?
