So this is an update for any of you that read my post about this back in June. I ovulated before egg retrieval again!

Last time I was gracious about it. This time I was angry. They were on notice that this has happened before and I felt like they should’ve been more careful with me.

Needless to say I had every emotion. And the worst was that I had 6 follicles. That’s the best response I’ve had in a long time (Dr. credits this to priming with daily 2mg Estrace for a week before starting injections). So by ovulating the one, I lose the other 5 too.

Fast forward to a few hours later and the Dr. says “no, you only lost one, and it probably wasn’t good anyway since it ovulated so early. You still have the 5.” I ask him how he knows there’s still eggs in there and he says “experience with cancer patients...” He explained that sometimes there can be a a second ovulatory “wave.” We’re continuing stimulation on these other ones for a hopeful ER this weekend.

Needless to say this blew my mind. I was speechless on the phone with the Dr. because the conventional advice is that the cycle is cancelled after an ovulation. It’s a doozy. Just thought I’d share this latest crazy to see if it could help any of you guys. Anyone heard of or have any experience with this?”
