Is it rude to ask for gift receipts?

Hey there, 
Is it rude to ask for gift receipts with gifts, if they bring a gift with to our baby shower? My friend just had one and she got a ton of stuff without receipts and it’s repeat stuff/stuff she won’t use/didn’t ask for and has no ability to exchange the items out. 
She went to exchange a stroller she got (she had already gotten one) and the person who got it didn’t give her a receipt. She went to target and they said their policy was to match the lowest sale price, but the stroller had never been on sale so they told her she was able to get the 400$ in store credit back. Then they were like well we can only give you 100$ and sent her through the ringer, and now she still hasn’t gotten things sorted with target as they are refusing to even let her exchange the stroller for different items she actually really needs that didn’t get purchased. 
(I’m not sure why the person who bought it can’t come back and ask for a return but that’s besides the point.) 
So bottom line, is it rude to ask people who bring gift receipts just in case?

I always included gift receipts when giving gifts and assumed everyone else did as well, but for my shower, I only got about 5 things off my registry and absolutely zero gift receipts, includingstuff that they just bought "becauseits cute".  I was grateful I got stuff but I was dumbfounded about the receipt thing 🤷🏼‍♀️
Personally I think registries are pointless for most people and its absolutely not rude to ask for gift receipts for reasons just like this

I would find some clever way to word a receipt reminder on the invite. And then just talk openly about your concern with friends and family when the topic comes up

She needs to try a different target, they are supposed to give her a merchandise credit for it. She just needs to explain that she was gifted two but no one gave her a receipt

No I don't think it's rude. I think it's common sense that people should be providing them with their gifts

She could always ask the two people who bought the same stroller if they have the receipt, explain that it’s a double and she’d like to return one to buy other necessities. Maybe one of them will have it? I asked someone for a copy of the receipt since I needed it to register the product online and they were more than happy to share it and were not in the least bit insulted! Hope that helps? 😊

I think it is rude. People should include them, and most do, but to assume they won’t without a reminder strikes me as rude. It also makes the shower seem a little more like a gift grab than a party, IMO. But I suppose it’s a know-your-crowd type thing, since other people don’t think it’s rude 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is why I don’t ask for the big things and make it very clear what I already have and what I still need. Sounds bad but being clear on what you do and don’t need is a big thing. But I’ve never had his problem at my Walmart or target. If you just bring it back and say it’s the wrong thing they usually give you store credit for the price of them item . I don’t thing it had to with the item but soon how she went in a explained her self. I would have went in said I need store credit for this item I got it and I don’t need it .
