Cold sores?

I’m 20 weeks, I’m so paranoid that I’m gonna touch it and spread it to other parts of my body, can that even happen? What can I do to help to go away 😩

I have had them my whole life. I find it helpful to stick some q-tips in my pocket to apply medicine or if it really gets itchy I use one to scratch and just throw it away. 
I also find a little hydrogen peroxide helps dry them up the fastest (just a few dabs a few times a day then other medicine in between). 
They can spread but mine never has.

Yeah theoretically you can spread them to other parts of your body or to others. But I discussed with my doctor once and she was like “it lives in your nerves if you get it one place you can get it anywhere.” Idk about that I’ve gotten them on my lips and nose since childhood and never had in my privates. I highly advise talking to your doctor about getting a refillable valtrex Rx and taking a dose when you feel the cold sore coming on (the tingle phase). It reduces duration and severity by about 2/3 for me. I always keep a bottle on hand.

Yes! They can absolutely spread! Don’t kiss anyone, no oral, and if you accidentally touch it wash your hands immediately! I’d ask your doctor if Abreva is ok during pregnancy. 
My lips get cold sores if they get dry or chapped... I used Carmex lip balm every night to help prevent them.
