Water for breastfed 15 month old?

My 15 month old is still breastfeeding but he looooves water. Lately he’s been on a kick of chugging like 4-5 ounces in one stint but probably getting no more than 9-10 ounces in a day total if that. I have no idea how much breast milk he gets cause he exclusively nurses and I haven’t pumped in a loooooong long time. Is this normal? Is his water intake alongside breast milk intake too much? Or is there even such a thing? He doesn’t get milk at all. Just booby milk. Help a paranoid crazy mama out??

Im not a medical professional, but id say its totally fine. At 15 months my son ONLY drank water (still does at nearly 3). Give him what he wants, assuming you approve. Its summer time, he is likely thirsty!

He could be naturally weaning himself- having more water and maybe less breastmilk which is completely fine.. definitely let him have as much water as he wants, especially if it’s summer and hot where you are.

I believe the recommendation is around a litre of water per day from age 1-3, but that’s the water they get from all sources (including breastmilk) not just straight water. So it would all depend on how much breastmilk he gets, which I know you can’t measure, but assuming he’s taking the average of 16-24oz (breast)milk total per day, that still leaves room for 10-15oz of water.

my son drinks a full 350ml bottle of water everyday, sometimes i have to even refilnit and hell keep drinking. He is now 18 months but has that much water along with 2-3 180ml bottles a day. If you’re super worried maybe book an earlier appointment with your health nurse
