Teaching baby to self soothe?
My LO is 6 weeks old and I know he is still a long way away from any kind of sleep training. But I've been thinking about gently teaching him to self soothe before the 4 months sleep regression hit, so he'll be able to go back to sleep on his own if he wakes.
I don't swaddle him because he hates it, and we don't use pacifiers unless we're going out.
Our current bedtime routine is a bath, massage, nurse (he's EBF), then he'll fall asleep in my arms. I then transfer him to his bed, a co-sleeping crib beside my bed. He usually stirs a bit so I shush-pat until he settles. He'll sleep for 3.5-5 hours for his first stretch before feeding, and in 2.5 hours stretches after that. But he's a terrible napper, only naps for 30 minutes unless he's on my chest.
I would really like to be prepared to face the sleep regression and maybe sleep training after that, so please share any tips or methods so baby can sleep on his own (without negative sleep associations) that have worked for you!!
