My newborn is a week old and I've been cleaning his umbilical cord with the alcohol wipes but it looks like this. Is this okay? I'm worried it might be infected. His doctors office was closed when I went so they couldn't see it.

I was told not to use alcohols on my sons. That does look infected though.

100 percent infected hun. Not supposed to use alc wipes for that. Just warm water and pat it down to dry. Take him to the hospital ASAP to get an antibiotic ointment so he doesn’t start to run a high fever.

I would personally take him to the ER. An infection in a baby that young especially can be dangerous. I’m not sure who told you to use alcohol but you’re not supposed to, that’s lengthening the healing process and possibly preventing it.

That does not look right at all.. also I was told to only bath and make sure its dry after.. your not supposed to clean it with anything but water & baby bath products
