Can taking birth control while pregnant effect the baby?

What if someone doesn’t know they are pregnant and continues to take birth control the first month of pregnancy?

My first child I was taking the contraceptive pill and when I asked the doctor he said it wouldn’t have an affect and it didn’t. Xx

I’ve seen some videos that say the estrogen stops egg production but wouldn’t harm an already implanted embryo. But the rise in hormones might not be good I’d check with your doctor just to be sure.
