UPDATE: thank you to everyone who took the time to reply. I contacted the restaurant and told them about the incident but didn’t give the guy’s name in case he didn’t realise how offensive he was being. They assured me they would have a staff meeting about this type of incident.

I took my daughter (10 months old) to a restaurant that has a really great kids play area. My daughter is standing and crawling, but isn’t too interested in walking at this stage. I ordered a kids cheese pizza of which she had one slice and I had the rest. At home I cook all her meals and she eats a lot of fruit and vegetables, as well as lean proteins.

Anyway.. the waiter asks me if she is walking yet, so I said no, she isn’t. He then told me it’s because she is overweight. He then says she is so active because she eats too much sugar. I told him that she is 10 months old and isn’t allowed sugar. He replies “oh, you only feed her salt then”.

I’m pretty angry but didn’t say anything at the place. But now I’m home and wishing I had actually said something because at 10 months old no baby should be told they’re overweight.
