Traveling with 6 week old

So my family has a house on the beach about 7 hours from our home. Everyone is going down to celebrate my younger brothers birthday next week. Trying to decide if we want to take the leap and travel down with baby! Any suggestions, tips?

We will have our own spacious room/bathroom/everything we would have here at home.

I make a 5hr trip down to see my husband weekly...when baby was only 9 days old was his first trip w me... we just made sure we stopped more than usual (which was like 2 times more than the usual 2 stops)and take him out of the car seat changed diaper and fed him and he would sleep the rest of the way until we would stop again then I would wake him up so I could feed and change him... it makes the drive a little longer but keeps baby n U comfortable

We went to Maine from Rhode Island with our son who was less than a month old. Granted it was only 3 1/2 hour drive. But we did make stops to get him out and stretch and feed and be changed. It’s all about personal preference. If you think the baby will be okay in the car for that long (obviously making stops) and if YOULL be okay making that trip as well.

Of course. :) Good Luck! In all honesty too, jump on Pinterest and look up traveling ideas with a baby. You may find some good tips :)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. It does make me feel more comfortable knowing other mommas have traveled with little ones!

It will still probably be a little more work for you to not have all your baby gear on the road. It's just your comfort level. I am headed from MI to Atlanta at the end of this month when baby will be 4 weeks old. I am ok with it because I have realistic expectations of the work involved, but also because my brothers place is baby friendly and my other two kids are very comfortable there which lightens the load. There is no reason not to go, just make sure your expectations are realistic.

I’m a very easy going no fuss kind of person so if we had to stop every hour I would make it happen! It’s so good to feel reassurance that it IS okay to travel. I’ve read so many things that babies shouldn’t be going out and about until 2 months.
