Melasma postpartum?

I'm 12 weeks postpartum and this past week I've have had these brown patches come up on my forehead, cheekbones, and upper lip. Anybody have melasma appear postpartum not during pregnancy? Will it fade away eventually?

Answer

Mine came about 7 years ago when I had severe adrenal fatigue. It actually went away during my first pregnancy and early nursing. As my daughter nursed less and less over the next two years it got worse again. Then it was terrible during  this pregnancy. I am hoping it fades now. So I don’t have an answer for you other than it’s definitely hormonal and not always as clear cut as showing up during pregnancy only. Hopefully it will fade as your hormones regulate. If not, it might be worth a trip to a doctor who does holistic or endocrine work to have all your hormones tested and evaluated collectively (not just whether each is in the “normal” range individually).
