Big families?

I am currently expecting my second baby,  and according to my husband it is our last baby.  He says it is responsible to only replace ourselves in the world population. I understand his point of view, but I have always dreamed of having at least 3 kids and love the idea of a big family. I grew up with one sibling and 9 others that I didn't get to know so I feel envy seeing big families that get along. 
How did you decide how many kids to have, what was your reasoning for having a big or small family? Is having a lot of kids irresponsible? I want to hear thoughts!

My husband is 1 of 4 and I am 1 of 2, however, I always wanted at least 3. When we first got married my husband wanted only two, but changed his mind later and wanted 5. I compromised and said 4, but we got twins this time, so he got his 5.🤷‍♀️

I would love to have 3 kids, but we're stopping at 2 for financial reasons. Kids cost A LOT and we'd rather be able to give our children what they need rather than struggle with 3 or more kids.

I say have as many as you want as long as you can support them, love then and provide the care they need. I love kids and I change my mind over the years how many I want. Never thought I'd be having 4 but I'm thinking about one more after this one

Actually only having two children wont replace the current workforce. American couples need to have like 2.3 a piece. Watch the Tedt Talk the case for having kids by wahajat Ali. That can turn him I bet. We dont have enough people reproducing to make enough workers for when were all old and senile

My husband and I both came from families of 5 kids so we want 3 maybe 4 depending on how things go. 😊

We can only afford up to 2 in our current situation and I agree with your husband, we have an over population issue in our world and it's very environmentally irresponsible to have a huge family. To each their own.

I have always imagined myself having 4 or more children. None of my family like this, but how many kids i have has nothing to do with them, they dont have to care or pay for them. I have a 5 year old and am pregnant with number 2. This is my bfs first child, my daughter is from a previous relationship(he loves her like his own even though she isn't) we have talked about it at length. Before he and i started dating he did NOT want any children, but aparently being with the right person changed his mind. After this baby is born we agreed to no longer prevent pregnancy. I know this sounds crazy, but we are 15 years apart and he doesnt want to be 50 with a newborn. I have this strong feeling we will be having irish twins. When we are done having children I am considering getting my tubes tied, but I will cross that bridge when i get there.

I always wanted a large family. Until I babysat for my sister in law. She has 10 children. Ages 13 to 3. 7 are adopted. I'm now on my fourth and last child. Pregnancy is hard on me and I don't have the patience for that many children. Once I'm older and have a career we plan to adopt two and be done completely.  Even with the three that I have with them being so close in age it is hard to give them all one on one attention. We've figured it out how we will do it and since my oldest is going to be 6 we are going to start implementing the one on one "traditions". And I'll also say that having a large family money is tight. But my boys also eat me out of house and home and they haven't hit their teenage years yet😬😬😬 
But this is something you and your husband need to agree on. My husband absolutely refused to have 10 kids when we had our first lol. Then I tried 8. Then 6. And finally 4 with adopting 2 and he was okay with it as long as we get to retire with all of kids being able to care for themselves. We never got to just be us. We got pregnant at 16-17 so we've always had a kid. It takes time to reach an agreement and a lot of talking and compromising.
