Nurse working 12hrs,is it safe?

Hi, I just found out that I am 5wks pregnant and I'm just worried if it safe to work. I just landed  a new job as a nurse working in a very busy unit. Any experience?

I’m a nurse and worked up until I delivered! You’ll be fine! Anything you were doing before pregnancy is fine to continue during. Be sure to take bathroom breaks and stay hydrated!

I worked 12 hour shifts in ER while I was pregnant up until delivery. I always kept a snack by my computer and a big water bottle. Wear comfy shoes!

Currently 31 weeks and still doing 3 12’s a week on nights. I work peds so generally the pt’s are at least physically lighter overall and the teamwork on my floor is amazing so everyone helps the pregnant lady (even when I feel more than capable lol). It really just depends on how your pregnancy goes but I found the first trimester to be the worst because you generally just feel crappy and you’re still trying to hide the fact that you’re pregnant. Lots of little snacks helped with the nausea for me personally and I ended up telling several coworkers after my first ultrasound. I’m sure I’m going to be complaining again soon because belly’s starting to get pretty big. 
Bottom line is it’s manageable but there are definitely days/nights you’ll feel like crap. I hope it’s a good, supportive unit because that will make all the difference! Good luck!
