Lunch meat ???

im 14 weeks and All I’m craving is a cold turkey sandwich or a cold pepperoni sandwich and everyone keeps telling me no I can’t because of listeria. I haven’t talked to my OB about it yet but I wanted some opinions ?

Eat your lunch meat. You’re more likely to get listeria from fruits and vegetables

Girl get yourself a turkey sandwich! Those are my favorite too. I eat lunch meat all the time 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s more common to get listeria from lettuce.. but they won’t ever tell you that

I eat cold lunch meat constantly, my doctor doesn't care.

I eat cold sandwiches weekly. You have the same very low risk of listeria with fruits/ veggies and soft serve ice cream.

Heat it up first, you can cool it down afterward. Yes, you're more likely to get listeria from vegetables. Yes, the chances are slim you'll get it. But there is still a chance. In my opinion it's silly to risk something you can easily avoid. But it is your choice!

My dr says deli meats are okay as long as you warm them up first!

You gotta warm them up. And i would personally on buy the fresh deli meat from the grocery store. Not anything prepackaged or from subway or anything.

The truth is if the beat did have listeria in it then it could cause spontaneous miscarriage but it's really rare. If you get a good meat from the store not like a Subway then you're safer

One sandwich isn’t going to hurt. I’ve eaten cold meat throughout all 3 of my pregnancies with no issues.
