Do they induce early for big babies

Weight estimates are very inaccurate. Some OBs will induce early or try to push you into a C-section. Others understand the estimates are exactly that, a wild guess based on how long baby is. That's like guessing a person's weight based on their height. So much room for error!

I think usually they only consider it if you had complications related to delivering a large baby previously. This baby is on schedule to be about 9 pounds which isn’t an issue for many people however my 8.13 baby got stuck so they are considering inducing me early. But they haven’t decided yet

My dr wont at my 36week appointment she was 7lbs already and he said if i didnt go into labor by 38weeks they were gonna set up a csection due to her size. Im 37weeks and go back to my ob tomorrow & we will see what they have to say.

Mine said we will do a C-section if he's too big but we don't usually induce for big babies.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. At 32 weeks baby was measuring 5lbs13oz and we're doing another ultrasound at 36 weeks. The Doctor said they might induce at 39 weeks but even at that they are estimating her to be 9+ lbs. She said they start thinking about shoulder distocia or other complications and if this occurs I should be mentally prepared for a csection. That's not to say that will happen but being a smaller hospital and not having a NICU they try to take all the precautions in case of needing to be sent to the city.
