idk if anyone remembers me, but hi! i’m the girl who’s boyfriends parents weren’t grooming their dog! long post ahead, sorry

he’s some kind of hypoallergenic mix, so his hair was just growing and growing and they were doing nothing. they also kept him outside 24/7. they’ve had him a year and no haircuts. he looked and smelled AWFUL but when i mentioned it they said he was “cute like that” and grooming wasn’t necessary /too expensive

he’s super dark, so you cant see him at all, but that’s him on the right about 4 -6 months ago i dont have more recent pics because ive been away. it doesnt look that bad but trust me, it was

i finally took him into a groomers today. he was so scared that he screamed the whole time and they had to call me in to put a muzzle on him and massage him and talk to him. it took 3 hours just to shave him plus multiple breaks. 4 people holding him down just to get him still enough to cut.

his hair was so matted it just came off in one big sheet when they shaved him down :( they cut one open and it was white inside i dont even know what it was. there were burrs/espinas/those spiky ball things ALL over him from being outside all the time. it was especially bad around his balls the poor thing ! and both of his ears are infected

they finally tried massaging some CBD salve on his snout and he relaxed a TON and just lay down and took it for the last half hour! i was so happy because watching him in so much pain and fear i cried a ton throughout the day.

they charged extra for him being super matted and for him being aggressive/nervous, so what would normally be $55 turned into $200 😭 the best $200 i’ve spent in my life. they said next time just get him sedated at a vet and have them do it, half way through while taking a break i drove to the vet and they said it’d be about $100 so that seems like a better option for next time i guess

anyway the point is TAKE CARE OF UR FUCKIN DOGS!! i dont understand the point of even owning one if you’re going to neglect it like this. i definitely considered just giving him to a shelter today, but i love him so much and i’m gonna have a talk with them tonight about keeping him inside. they also said they’d get medicine for his ears tomorrow. my boyfriend and i are gonna get him groomed from now on if they wont
