do you think it should be 18 or 21? i feel like the majority of people have it before 21 and its kinda ridiculous to be arrested for drinking at like 19 or 20. i grew up in ireland where its 18 and everyone laughs at america lol

I still 100% believe it should be illegal to drink under 21. Other countries can do it however they want, but a teenager's brain is still developing and growing, and the maturity to drink responsibly is not there until, I think, 21. So I do believe that 21 is the right age. And just because those underage are doing it, doesn't mean we should just legalize it. But these are just my thoughts. I'm not a drinker anymore, and I mean no disrespect to others who disagree with me.

Tbh I don't get why people drink alcohol in the first place. There are only negative consequences to drinking. Why would anyone ever want to drink it?

I would have small sips of wine before turning 21, maybe starting around 14.  Had a half a glass at a family gathering when I was 18, but never a full glass, which is probably partly why I’m a lightweight😂

In Australia, the drinking age is 18. Australia’s only culture seems to be drinking culture...and it’s not bad. I’d say everyone I know started drinking around 15-16. Yes, shitty things happen and you do dumb stuff but I think that would happen regardless of age? Now that we have all experienced “drinking to get drunk”, at 18 we are more than happy to go to wine bars and enjoy a few glasses over dinner and be mature. 
I recently went to Italy, where the drinking age is 16. The kids don’t get drunk, they have their glass of wine over dinner and learn to savour quality alcohol. 
I understand why the drinking age is 18, but 21? You can vote, own a gun etc but can’t have a beer? I meet a lot of Americans at clubs/bars and they think it’s absolutely INSANE that their drinking age is so high. People will drink if they want to, they will always find a way.
