Sulfur allergy?

I recently found out I have an allergy to Sulfa drugs (sulfur).

Is the same Sulfur in Sulfa drugs, in foods? I have only had the reaction to the prescription medicine and never to any foods. But I'm unsure of foods that contain sulfur. It also took a few times of taking the Sulfa drug to have a major reaction.

*EDIT* Sulfur is in the Sulfa drug...I was told to make sure that I let hospitals know I have an allergy to Sulfur and to add that to my allergies.

*EDIT 2*

This is a conversation between me and my mother, who is a nurse.

It's not a sulfur allergy. It's sulfa. Sulfa (as in sulfonamides) is a synthetic drug derived from a chemical that has sulfur in it.

It's usually the drug itself you're allergic to, not sulfur. But if your doctor told you you're actually allergic to sulfur then talk to them

I'm allergic to the sulfa drug. A quick Google will tell you that sulfur and sulfa is different. I was even told by my doctor that told me I was allergic not to confuse the two. Just tell your doctors that you're allergic to the sulfa drug and they will give you different antibiotics.

IF you have a sulfur allergy, and those are hard to diagnose, things like shellfish, brussel sprouts, eggs should be avoided

I dont know that I have an allergy myself but those are strong sulfur foods and I have always had an aversion to them personally.
