It’s actually a Greek name, like it’s short for my great-grandmother’s name Efrosini, or Efthemia which you mentioned. But if you adapt it to American, you’ll just have to choose a name you like.

I'm probably bias as my grandma and mom are both named Effie and i think it sounds fine but wouldn't just be easier to name her Effie instead of trying to find a name to fit it if you're just going to call her Effie anyway?
