Here she is
Happy birthday to my sweet Sadie Faye! I was induced at 37+2 last night (Sunday) due to uncontrolled asthma attacks. I started 1.5cm dilated, 50% effaced, and super soft. They inserted cytotec at 4am. Kept saying how well my body should respond since I was already a tiny bit dilated and soft, and it was my second child (first I was also induced at 37 weeks, but due to preeclampsia). Well, nothing happened with the Cytotec. By 8am I was barely 3cm and still not fully effaced. The doc started pitocin and broke my water. And then I sat at 3cm for hourssss. I ended up getting my epidural when I was finally almost a 4. Took forever to get it because I have a heart murmur and they couldn’t find clearance from my cardiologist that I was safe to get the epidural. They finally got it after my obgyn had one of her nurses walk to the cardiologist’s office (all in the same building, luckily) and then fax it over. I was then stuck at a 5 for hours but my epidural was in so I wasn’t too worried. Well, then my epidural wore off and I felt soooo much pain on my left side with every contraction. Apparently that’s what my body needed because I went from 5-10 in less than 2 hours. That’s fast considering how slowly I progressed before that. The anesthesiologist fixed my epidural and then I couldn’t feel a single thing, which was tough because it was time to push. Apparently I did fine because I only pushed for 15 minutes! I also only got 2 stitches. With my son I got 15! She’s a peanut, weighing in at 6 lbs 3 oz and 17.5” tall. The newborn clothes are huge on her.
