Antibiotics and Birth Control

I’ve heard my mum and other relatives of mine talk about women who have conceived while on antibiotics and birth control. Does the antibiotic dull the birth control?

I have been taking antibiotics for the past few days (while religiously taking my bc) and got my period. Is this true?
