Hey girls! Bare with me because this is a long post but it’s heavily on my mind and I need advice.

So to start, i have been friends with this guy whom is on my college men soccer team since freshman year (i am on the women’s team). He dated a girl for 6 months (July-December) but it was his first love. He’s a very innocent, sweet, guy like everyone loves him. He has only had sex with his previous girlfriend and myself.

Anyways, so i started falling for him in March and we become a thing and he tells me he isn’t ready to be together bc he isn’t ready for a relationship yet and he wants to wait until when he comes back. But we ended up getting a little more serious (considered talking/dating, not boyfriend & girlfriend).

So once summer ends for us so about 2 1/2 weeks ago i go to his hometown and stuff and he asked me to be his girlfriend and i was soooo happy. I later found out that he has been talking to his ex more than he’s told me. I’ve talked to him about his ex and he told me they ended on a good note and he still cares for her but he doesn’t love her or want her he just is there for her bc she has mental health issues and family problems going on. But i found out he was protecting her feelings but telling her we weren’t anything serious and every time she was sad he would go comfort her or something. I also found out the day he asked me to be his girlfriend he saw her right before seeing me and he ended everything g with her and told her he wants me forever and she got emotional and they kissed before saying bye.

I’m just having a hard time forgiving him but i know he would never hurt me again and he said the reason he asked me to be his girlfriend was because he knew he finally said goodbye for good to his ex. I love this guy so much and trust isn’t an issue i could send the guy to a strip club and be fully content knowing he wouldn’t do anything. I’m just having a hard time forgetting the fact that he lied to me for months. I know if i move past this then he will be my husband.

So i guess my advice is how do i get over this or forgive him? He blocked her off everything and has messaged all my friends apologizing for hurting me. This guy is phenomenal and i think that’s why i can’t let go easily. I just need to learn how to move past this because i want to make this more. 😭
