So on August 1st I switched from the pill to an IUD. Before I had the IUD inserted I followed my doctor’s instructions and stopped taking the pill a week before my insertion date. However, I didn’t start my period like my doctor had hoped. Still I got the IUD inserted. I knew she would have to dilate my cervix any ways to be able to get the IUD in. On the first day I had some bleeding. I knew that was because of my cervix being dilated for a bit. But I thought I had started my period. Next day the bleeding stopped but the cramping continued (just not as bad as the first day).

Off and on I have been experiencing some cramping which I guess is normal but I’m not sure since this is the first time I’ve ever had an IUD. Are there any ladies here who have had an IUD for a while and can tel me what their first few days or weeks were like after have their IUD inserted? I highly doubt it’s puncture my uterine wall, as if that were the case I’d be doubled over in pain. Yet I still haven’t started my period, just experienced some cramping here and there.
