Do you consider Avery to be a boy name or girl name?

My husband says it’s more of a girl name but I think it’s gender neutral and can be used for either or.

Traditionally, it’s a boys name. But it’s been used for girls more and more after the past few decades. Similar to names like Madison. Though I think it’s more common to hear a boy named Avery than Madison.

I have an Avery James!! Before we knew he was a boy i told my husband I liked Avery for a girl and he said he’d only heard it as a boys name so we just decided boy or girl the name was Avery! I think it’s a great unisex name.

I had never heard of it being a girl's name before I went on baby name forums and always thought of it as a boys only name but now I guess it is becoming a unisex name. I am also from New Zealand so maybe it is different in different countries?

I’ve actually only known boy Avery’s but have seen some girls online with the name. It is one of my girl name choices :) Avery Grace.
