Asking about teachers/professionals on public forums?
We recently moved two states away and know absolutely no one. The community we moved into has a Facebook page that most of the residents use to share what's going on in the neighborhood, and ask general questions.
With school starting back up everyone on the page was asking about the teachers that their kids had been assigned.
Since we have no prior experience with this school and I don't know any of the parents in the neighborhood I followed suit and asked about my child's teacher, along with some questions I had about back to school night.
People shared their experiences and gave me the information needed. One woman however felt the need to comment and say that my post was inappropriate for the page, I thought it would be because I was stating who's class my child was in and she thought it was a safety hazard. I was wrong
(I didn't bother responding)
I personally don't have a problem with asking for parents/kids experiences with teachers. And as I stated see it as no different than asking about doctors, dentist, daycares etc.
But am I wrong? Is it actually inappropriate?
(Side note: my FB page is private, there are no public pictures of my child and we don't share the same last name so it isnt even a safety hazard)
