Do you judge people by the car they drive? 
Would the car someone owns effect whether or not you would date them?

I’ve dated guys who rode bicycles, there’s a big difference between personality and wealth, the poorest man can have the biggest heart and treat you the best, he could give you every penny he gets and leave nothing for himself. When I first got with my SO he had no job, no car, nothing. And within a few months I had helped him get a job and a car, an ugly ass old van, but it was still something. I didn’t care about driving around with him in that ugly run down van because I knew the van didn’t attribute to the kind of person he was. It’s been 3 years since then and we’ve moved up from that ugly van to a nice truck, and then recently we’ve gotten a very nice SUV, just from working together and on each other. I think it’s vain to judge people by something as simple as their vehicle.

I’ll be the one to admit it. I do make judgements based off of a person’s vehicle. The upkeep etc says a lot. If you don’t have a car or don’t have a reliable one, I certainly wouldn’t date you. Back when I was a kid, sure. As an adult, I want and expect stability from my partner, and if you can’t have a decent car, you’re probably not stable.

Nope. My boyfriend drives an old GMC truck with a broken A/C. I drive a 2013 Kia Optima. The only reason I ask to drive my car is for the air conditioning because it’s summer in Texas right now. But he’s mostly the one that does the driving between us. Not embarrassed or ashamed. He worked for the money to buy his truck and works for the money to pay all of his bills. I’m proud of him for being hardworking and not running to his parents for money help all the time.

Yes, I do, but only if it's expensive. If you drive a cheap car, I understand your general struggle and I have been there at some point. On the other hand, if you drive a car that costs more than your house payment, I will avoid you dating wise, but I'd still be friends if you're a decent person. I don't want to date people who blow money on a car that decreases in value every year when there are far more important things you can buy that will actually benefit you more than a $1,000,000 car that's just as good as a $20,000 one. I'll just assume you're extremely irresponsible if you drive a Lambo or something similar and immediately stay away. It's natural to judge, and it's natural to have a preference.

Cars are a hobby of mine. So yes I pay attention to what someone drives. I don’t judge someone just because they have a cheap or old car. But there are so many choices of what you can buy at every price point, I think what you choose does say something. When I dated I only dated car guys, it is a hobby that I’m glad my husband and I share.
