TDap and Flu Shot ?

Is it true if I get the TDAP while pregnant it can protect me and my little one ? & who else is planning on getting the Flu Shot as well my son will be born in Oct . 28 and I know around that time the Flu Season will start . Should I make my husband get both of these if I get them he’s on that mindset if he gets the flu shot he will get the flu lol ... I haven’t gotten mines since I was 14/15 but should I get the Flu shot as well before birth or after ???

I was vaccinated just a few years ago for tdap, so I've been advised not to get it again so soon, but my husband and my parents are getting it along with mmr boosters. We don't do flu vaccines because my parents both have severe reactions to it and got the flu every year they got the vaccine before their reactions. My husband's lymph nodes would swell to the size of baseballs everytime he got the flu shot. I asked him to do 2 years without it- no problems. 3rd year, he got it and lymphs swelled to point of breathing issues. I've been advised to never get it due to history of family reactions.... but I never got it anyway and never had flu. I believe in all vaccines except the flu. Flu stains mutate too quickly to keep up with and so flu vaccines only cover for a few select strains.

I’m getting both. I spoke with my dr and she  recommends both. But she said to wait for the new flu shot which should come out soon hopefully by end of August. She wants me to get them from 28-36 weeks. I am due oct 30 close to you and flu season will be in full swing. My hospital actually doesn’t allow children under 16 into labor and delivery to help avoid flu and other sickness impacting all the newborns during flu season times. My niece was born 2 years ago in nov and in order for anyone to see our niece we all had to get flu and tdap vaccines then so I will be asking family to get updated flu shots since their tdap vaccines will still be good for a few more years and those on my side that haven’t had any will need both to see baby which my mom already is planning on getting.

I just got my Tdap a few weeks ago. You and anyone who will be taking care of the baby for any length of time should get it if they’re not up to date. I will probably get a flu shot as well.

There’s no studies that have been done by the FDA, or the CDC on the tdap vaccine and pregnant women. there’s no studies that say it can benefit you and the baby whatsoever. im not saying anything about vaccines or whatever lol - but there’s simply NO, ZERO studies done on this vaccine on pregnant women and what it does to the baby.

Flu shot is good to get while pregnant as well because you can also pass immunity to the baby as well as with the Tdap but it’s all personal preference. The flu shot cannot give you the flu it just doesn’t prevent all possible strains so sometimes people still get the flu even if they got the shot.

My daughter was born on October 31st and my husband and I got both. We also asked anyone who planned to be around the baby often to get them as well. I was strict about it because it was flu season. I hadn’t gotten the flu shot since I was a kid and don’t plan on getting it outside of my pregnancies but I got it because it was recommended.

You should talk to your doctor for sure. But yes, you and your husband, along with anyone who will close to the baby should get trap about 6 weeks before you are due. By you getting the trap your baby is 50% less likely to contract whooping cough while they are too little to get their own shot, which can be fatal. My OB said usually don’t need flu shot until sep/oct.
