Birth story.

Amy

So I went in to my OB office yesterday at 11am because I called and asked what to do because my water broke and I was contracting every 7 minutes. I had to sit there for 45 minutes to be seen and then they told me my water didn't break based off a strip test and that my water would have burst and came out all at once and that it does not just leak. They said that they felt her head low and I was dilated to a 2.5. They told me to go, walk, and have sex. I didn't have sex because I knew my water broke regulardless of what they told me. I left and kept contracting, now 5 minutes apart, and leaking fluid but the fluid turned yellowish brown so I called my OB office again them at 3pm and they told me the fluid was probably urine and to wait until I couldn't talk through my contractions to go to the hosptial. I finally called the actual hospital at 6pm, I could still talk through my contractions and they had been 5 minutes apart for 5 hours but I had waited to to per my doctor's instructions. They told me, panicking, to come in ASAP. Turns out she had passed meconium inside of me (reason for my fluid being yellow, it wasn't urine like my doctor assumed), had my doctor looked further into if my water broke or not, I wouldn't be in this situation. They decided to do an ultrasound later on because they couldn't feel the head now that I was at 6cm, she was breech and they now had to do a c section asap since I was already so far into labor they couldn't stop it or try to spin her since my water had broke. Little Amelia was born at 1:57 weighing 7 pounds 6 and a half ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. NICU was in the room in case she aspirated the meconium. Luckily she didn't, she was in perfect health. Moral of the story, trust your gut and not your doctor. Go to the hosptial if you have a feeling something's off even if your doctor says not to. And if you're in the Winston Salem area then avoid Novant Women Care.
