my sweet chub
my husband and i recently adopted two cats in june (ones now 5 months and the other is 4 years old)
the older one who we’ve named cheese borger (he named him) is super chubby and shy. he had been in the shelter since he was a kitten and was only adopted one other time but given back within a week because he wasn’t sociable.
when we first brought him home he sat in our closet or behind some moving boxes and didn’t leave those spots, we had to bring him food and water because he wouldn’t even get up to eat.
after a good two weeks of him basically being terrified of everything, he started walking out into the living room and we had to sit completely still every single time or else he’d dart back into hiding. i started moving the food into a more appropriate spot and gradually he would come out eat and then run back in.
BUT, what really helped is my husband left on mission so it was just me and the cats alone every night and i got him to start coming out more for pets or treats.
this went on for about a week more until the day my husband came home. i picked him up and when we came home CHUBS WAS SITTING ON THE COUCH. and didn’t even flinch when we walked in.
well long story short this cat will not shut up now, if he’s not sleeping or eating he’s right under mine or my husbands feet meowing for pets. he lays on his back and gives full tummy, he plays with the kitten, begs and demands for treats. he’s such a great cat and it’s so sad that it took this long for him to find a family.
