Negotiating a new salary pay vs hourly w/ commission
I know this is a sensitive subject since it pertains to money, but I really need some tips and help please
I am currently an hourly employee that also receives a commission check. I am paid every 2 weeks. My boss is working on getting me into salary pay so I can work from home. They are also expecting me to work an average of 50 hrs/week vs my now 40-45. We have not discussed my new pay but he did say it would not be less than my hourly/commission combined now. I do not know the best way to figure what my salary/new take home should be so I can negotiate, and I am really concerned about getting shorted.
My position requirements and even title has changed a lot in the last 2 years but I have never been properly compensated for it. I am now technically a manger and my boss assured me I would love my new pay; it was a .30 raise. I only make .50 more than the ladies I oversee and that have been here 1 and 3 yrs vs my 5. The one that has been here 3yrs is leaving and I will be starting over with a brand new employee to train who will also be starting out close to my hourly now. They also get the same commission amount as me as well (my commission will go away once I am salary and therefore my other 2 employees will get my percentage share to split). In addition to being a manger I have taken on a few responsibilities that used to be my boss’ which still increase regularly, and am also doing all the training for a new system we will be receiving in the next year; I will be training at least 10 other ppl on this new system once we are ready to use it.
My average hourly take home is $1,050 and my commission is $200. My work hours average from 40-45hrs/week.
If I will now be expected to work 50, have more responsibilities and still haven’t been compensated as a manger, what should I negotiate for my new take home pay or what is the best way to figure it? I was thinking it needs to be no less than $1,500?
