If you do freelancing & also had a 9-5, do you think it’s appropriate to work on/review freelancing work while you’re at your 9-5?

Just wondering... I think it’s totally unprofessional to work on side gig stuff while you’re at your office job. You’re not getting paid to work on personal stuff. 
But I have a friend I helped out with some work, and now keeps sending me stuff to review and ask me to work on it during the day & gets upset when I say I can’t open or reply to their emails while I’m at work.

Yeh you can't do that. You could get fired. A lot of companies also don't like people doing things on the side (even at home) without prior agreement so be careful.
