Sensory disorder?
We have our 2 year check up today. It didn't go well... She was fine in the waiting room and getting her weight and height checked. As soon as the nurse was done with her sister (4 months) and started talking to her she just screamed! She cried and kicked and jerked the whole time! She hates when anyone even me touches her ears. She has tubes and gets ear infections often.
The doctor came in and was asking a bunch of questions about her. Does she respond when you call her name? Does she use her hands normally? Stuff like that. When she was done she said she was concerned about her having some kind of a sensory problem. She said she shouldn't have a complete shaking meltdown from the vacuum cleaner, the hand drier in public bathrooms, or even talking loudly. She's also concerned about it because she'll try something new to eat and spit it out like she doesn't like the texture.
She just told me to see if it gets better or worse in the next few months and we'll go from there. She talked about sensory therapy and something else but I had a screaming 2 year old clinging to my body so I didn't really hear much...
Anybody know what I can expect? What I need to be looking for? Anything I can do to help her?
