Is distilled water or water with fluoride best?

Me and my aunt got into it the other day about giving my son distilled water instead of water with fluoride in it. I use distilled water rather than purified to make his bottles with because I read that it’s the best water for him and she herself told me when he was about 2 months old not to give him water with fluoride  in it because it wasn’t good for him. Fast forward to now he’s 7 months old and now she’s upset with me for not giving him the exact same water she said was bad for him 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. I looked it up on google and it said either purified and distilled is good for your baby so 🤷🏾‍♀️now I’m just annoyed and confused. And before you guys say “ ask his doctor” I tried calling but for some reason they were closed today soooooo....yea lol

Don’t use water with fluoride, it can cause problems including soft/etched teeth. It happened to me as my mom worked for a dentist who specifically told her to use water with fluoride. The distilled water is perfectly fine, but robe safe and give you peace of mind I’d call doctor again next week.

Okay, distilled water is for vehicles and machinery that you don't want mineral build up to cause issues.
Distilled water is completely free of minerals and vitamins naturally found in water. Distilled water does not conduct electricity, the dissolved substances in water does. Your body runs on electricity, your heart uses electrical pulses to beat. It also throws off the water balance in your body, your cells absorb and release water based on diffusion. Diffusion allows water to enter and exit your cells based on a gradient, if you drink distilled water there will be more water outside your cells than inside your cells. Your cells will then continue to try to restore the balance and lyse, or burst. Your body will slowly deteriorate if you use distilled water for prolonged periods of time. In large amounts (ridiculously large amounts over a very short period of time), it can kill you. Use purified or filtered water.

If he doesn't have teeth yet, it doesn't matter. The fluoride is to improve dental health.

UPDATE! I got in touch with his doctors office and they said as long as I’m not giving him the distilled water straight and solely mixing it with his formula then he’s perfectly fine. And if I did want to give him water straight then I can give hime cold tap water or bottled or purified whichever I prefer. I still have about 7 gallons of distilled water left which I’m going to continue mixing with his formula and after that I’m just gonna go back to the usual non fluorite baby water I was using beforehand and call it a day. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I just read an article on here this morning where it said under 6 months no fluoride, over 6 months fluoride is okay. I believe the only plus is for teeth health so I’m not sure what harm could be done by using it or not. Whenever your pediatrician is open I would just ask them to make sure!

Not going to argue anything about fluoride. It has its pros and cons. I wouldn’t give it to babies this young due to mineral build up on teeth. As your child becomes older they will get it in other ways. Depending on where you live they most likely already add it to your water. The build up happened when too much is added to child’s diet. They will get plenty of it later in their lives. Distilled is fine.

I would just buy the nursery water they sell in the baby aisle. But after a while i switched to filtered tap water. My doctor recommened using tap water once baby could have powdered formula (2 months i believe) but i used nursery water till she was 6 months lol.

I use purified  without flouride  water for both of my babies.  It still has the natural minerals in it.....I've  only ever used distilled for machine's/fish tank.
