Nexplanon question

I barely have sex ever since I broke up with my ex. So I’m not looking for pregnancy prevention but on the off chance I do have sex is this thing really good a preventing pregnancy?

I’m mostly gonna be on it to stop ovulation for cysts. The pregnancy protection is added bonus.

How much did it hurt after the insertion?
