Does your LO do this?

My son is 7 months and I’m trying to get consistent with solids because his doctor wants to stop bottles at 9 months. Well whenever I give him solids he takes two bites then sticks his thumb in his mouth for like 5 min and then he takes 2 more bites and does the same thing again.. how do I stop that because feedings take forever because of this..

I’m wondering the same. My son is also 7 months and only takes 2 bites of solids then will turn his head and not want any more. He just wants to nurse.

I work with kids on feeding as an Occupational Therapist. I would recommend getting him involved, like giving him his own spoon and some food on his tray to play with. It can get messy, but this way he can explore the food with his hands first which a lot of times leads to more eating. I usually do this in the evenings and then straight to bath :)

My first was like this until almost nine months. Just keep feeding him small amounts of solids - they will catch on eventually. If LO hasn't caught on by your next doctor appointment, bring it up. Babies need milk or formula as primary source of nutrition until 1 year, whether delivered by breast, bottle, sippy, or cup, so you have time.

My 7 month old absolutely hates food. She clamps her mouth shut and refuses to open her mouth.
