Kissing
Hot topic, I know!
I have a 5 month old and myself and hubby kiss our girl but never on the mouth. I think it’s natural for parents to kiss their kids/babies etc... however I do feel as though it’s inappropriate if your anyone other than Mom or Dad kiss babies/children, unless in greeting with hello/goodbye on the cheek only, as you would an adult in some cultures. Anyway, my in laws came to visit and stay for the first time since the birth and they were constantly kissing my baby on the face, I also caught my fil kissing her on the mouth. I told hubby to have a chat with them, to specifically dial back the constant kissing and absolutely no mouth kissing. We’ve had a similar conversation a few months ago but they’ve ‘conveniently’ forgotten or have decided to ignore it. I’m actually feeling very annoyed that I didn’t say anything myself now that they’ve left.... and hubby forgot to say anything.
Do you allow grandparents to constantly kiss baby? It’s really creeped me out, perhaps I’m overreacting and it’s one of those ‘pick your battles’ kind of things.
