When to have a baby

Hey ladies, my husband and I have been married for two years, three in May. We were planning to try for a baby this summer, and then it got pushed to February. Now my husband says that he wants to pay off the car first before trying; which is another year. That means I will be 29. A part of me wants to have a baby and then the other half of me wants to be able to be just us for another year. So I guess what I am leaning towards is when is it time to try for a family? What should we make sure to have before? Thanks guys!
