Can my baby sleep on his tummy? (Please read description)

My baby is almost five months old, won’t sleep more than 1 hour, ends up rolling to his side/tummy after a short time. I know the ‘experts’ say ‘no tummy sleeping’ but he will not sleep the other way and manages to roll himself violently side to side/awake if he’s on his back. I put him on his belly and he seems so much more comfortable tonight without the rocking, but I’m a paranoid mama. :/

The “experts” say to not put them down on their stomachs, and that if they can do it themselves then you can leave them. They don’t just say no belly sleeping.

The rule is: put them on their back to start off with. If they roll to their side/belly on their own - then you can leave them that way.

always place baby on his back. if he rolls onto his stomach or side then that's fine but you shouldn't place him on his stomach to sleep

We still lay out 15 month old down on his back. He moves himself to whatever position he wants - usually head shoved into the corner with his butt in the air. If he gets himself onto his stomach, he can move himself well enough to turn and lift his head.

I was told at this age if he rolls on his stomach to leave him there because he is now capable of lifting his head when he can't breath.
