My birth story
I was induced with my second daughter at 37-2 due to medical issues. With my first labor I was induced so I was expecting to be there for the long haul again (first birth started induction Friday pm had her Sunday pm and pushed for three hours- that little bit of info is important later on!!)
I show up June 4 at 2 pm. Get checked in and I’m 2 cms dilated and 40% effaced.. I can start pitcocin and don’t need a cervical ripener! I get an iv and they start pitocin at 4 pm.
I labor walking the halls, sitting on the ball. They decide to break my water at 7 pm. I’m 4 cm now. I get the epidural around 8 pm. Thank you pain medicine! I was able to sleep!
I finally wake about 12:30am and I tell my husband I think my epidural is wearing off I can feel like period cramps down low. So we call the nurse. She gives me a bolster. She checks my bp and temperature and then asks about the pain. I said I could still feel it. The nurse says let’s try relieving your bladder and checking your progress.
She gets me all set up and puts the catheter in. Which I can’t feel at all so maybe the posit all is still working. She says oh wow you’re at ten centimeters and the baby’s head is right there!
She says it’s time to start pushing! My husband looks at me and says can I go get a coffee? I was like yeah sure no problem!
I did a practice push as he ran back in haha and her head almost came out they yelled for me to stop so they could get the dr... who took forever to come in cause she was eating. Seriously annoying.
Three pushes later at 1:26 am on June 5th my second baby girl came into this world.
