will a long distanced relationship work in my case?

last year i moved to a new city for my job. this year august i completed a year in this firm. im considering putting my papers down in another 3-4 months in order to complete my masters(im 21 now). where i am from, its difficult to crack entrance exams and requires months of preparation. this would mean id be living with my parents till i get through any universities. this would also mean that we might not be in the same city for another 3 years till I get a new job after my masters (its a full time 2 years course).

i have been dating this guy since 6 months now and although it'll break my heart to end things with him, im not sure if our relationship is strong enough to survive long distances.

whenever i try to bring this up he says we'll see when it comes to it and avoids the talk. seems like he doesn't want to have the conversation at all. none of us have been in a serious relationship before which makes me more confused about the future. i dont want this relationship to hold me back from quitting and resuming my education but i really dont want to break up. i dont know what to do. please help me clear my head
