12 month old climbing

My baby is a year old and lately he's started climbing on things that's pretty high up of I leave the room to potty, I'm afraid he will start trying to climb out of his bed now cause of that and we have it as low down as possible. How can I get him to self sooth in his toddler bed at night? He's used to us kissing him good night and seeing him down and even after 3 months of doing this he still cries a little and tries to climb out of his infant bed.
