"All mothers are single mothers"

Xig • In the honourable words of Howard Moon - "I`m the fighter, you little tit-box."

When I was expecting my second baby, I got talking to a friend of a friend. She happened to be a midwife, so I opened up about how I was about to become a single mother of two babies. Her response was, "Oh hunny, we are all single mothers."

I believe what she was getting at was that whether you have a partner or not, the mother's duties, responsibilities, workloads, etc. all remain the same. That motherhood is equally difficult with or without a partner. What do you think, is there any truth to her words?
