Declared Obese by New Provider

Jessica

Context: I changed providers once I found out I was pregnant because I wanted to work with a midwife. For insurance and access purposes I need to go hospital as there are no birth centers near me.

My first appointment with the new provider was today and it felt more medical than my former private practice OB. The nurse declared me obese, said I had gained some weight and ushered me to take lab tests for diabetes.

I've lost 30 pounds in the last six months in preparation for this pregnancy and I'm super proud of myself. Today just felt awful and like I wasn't going to be put first in this pregnancy. The nurse did not explain how I had gained weight.

Did anyone else have a similar experience and have their weight focused on super quickly?

I'm just super upset because of all the praise my last doctor gave me and encouraged me and I feel like I made the wrong decision to change practices.
