What would you do/say?

My sister got engaged last weekend and my mom told me they want to plan the wedding for January 4th. My due date is 12/6, and I responded saying that date would be really hard for me (having a newborn, not sure what my health or his will be, the wedding will be an hour away...). How realistic is it that I could not only go to the wedding but be a bridesmaid, cause I know my sister will ask that? I don’t think I’ll be able to do the shower, rehearsal, etc because it’ll all be in December and I don’t know when my baby will come or whether I’ll be recovering! 
My mom hasn’t responded to me and people are saying I can bring the baby and have my husband watch him somewhere. Is that realistic? I’m a first time mom and not sure if I’m overreacting by thinking “hell no that will not work for me at all.”

This is my third baby and honestly, no it isn't realistic. I'd stay home and not even attempt to go. But that's me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I could SO relate to this!! 
My BIL got engaged last week and asked when my due date is (12/9) and a few days later they announced they’re getting married 12/7!! I was like ummmmmmmm WHAT! So I told my man, MIL and BIL not to expect us there. Like even if my baby comes early give or take a week or late there’s no way I’ll be taking a newborn around all those people with their kids and germs 🤷🏽‍♀️ hope you get it figured it out girl, you’re not obligated to go! ❤️

It all simply depends on how you and baby are doing after the birth happens. There’s no way to know before that

After my first baby I couldn’t walk properly for 6 weeks I think that’s very unrealistic and I’m just wondering why your sister would book her wedding for around when you are due!? I would just tell her you probably won’t be able to make it because you have literally just given birth!! Xxx

Ugh that really sucks. I attended my sister’s wedding 5 months pp and it sucked, I was still huge, busy taking care of my baby, and couldn’t truly enjoy her wedding because I was worried about my baby the whole time. Just let her know if you do attend you won’t fully be “there”. 1 month pp with my daughter I was still a mess that didn’t get any sleep. Also I wouldn’t want my 1 month old around so many people, I would be so afraid of her getting sick (Winter is sick season!!). Ugh this all sounds messy, sorry 😓😓😓

Just bring baby, nurse baby, wear baby in a carrier. 1 mos old there comforted easily by boob and sleep a lot. Standing abs being a bridesmaid is probably unrealistic bc ur baby will want u, not ur husband.

I think being a bridesmaid is a big no. My first only wanted me to hold her so it will be really tough for your husband to be a fill in. 6 weeks pp I did a 1 hour yoga class and my husband said she cried the entire time. He took a video and it was legit the hardest thing to listen to. 
As far as attending the wedding that will probably be a day of or week of decision. Plan on going but totally be real with your sister that if you don’t make it then it was the best choice. Some babies are colicky and cry for hours and some babies have bad days when they just can’t seem to settle them. Also some mommies are super comfortable being around others and some mommies don’t leave the house for months. You never know which mommy or baby you will get.

Oh man that’s so hard. I’m sorry you have this decision to make. Unfortunately, you won’t know how you will be until after baby comes. With my first and third was up and around just fine by 2 weeks. My second I was barely able to walk for almost 8 weeks just due to pain from birth complications and everything else. Not to mention at 1 month pp you and baby are still on a crazy schedule with sleep and eating and everything else. 
I personally feel like I’d have to chat with my sister one on one and explain it just couldn’t happen for me. Even if I was feeling fine pp - there’s still the constant nursing and lack of sleep it’s cold flu and rsv season with all those people around. I wouldn’t be able to relax and enjoy the occasion. 
You just have to go with your gut on this one❤️

I was a maid of honour when my son was 6 weeks. It was a bit stressful but my friend (the bride) was sooo understanding and the other bridesmaids really stepped up and helped me out. I was also exclusively breastfeeding, so baby was with me for it all except during the ceremony, pictures, and speeches. My parents drove around with him and followed us around. Like I said it was stressful, but worth it. Its just one day and I’m so happy I was able to stand up beside my friend on her special day.
