Is it normal to get cramps 2 weeks before period?

I've been getting very bad stomach cramps and like "period cramps" lately, i went to the doctors just i case i was allergic to anything and i'm getting tested next monday... 
It also hurts on my lower stomach (around uterus) when i press down.. idk if i have an infection or something.. or if it's very early cramps...

Could it be ovulation pains or middle smerts? You typically ovulate 2 weeks before your period is due and some women have pretty clear, decisive cramps during it. It also could possibly be if your ovarian cyst didn’t rupture during ovulation, it can cause cramping. This is pretty common and usually takes care of itself, although if it persists, see a doctor for a pelvic ultrasound. Most women will have at least one or two ovarian cysts that don’t rupture right away during their childbearing years.
