Dyslexia ?

Could my daughter be dyslexic? She is 6 she has been in pre-k since she was 3 she can’t read yet she is still learning and sometimes flips words around as well as numbers, she also seems to get very frustrated and bored when we attempted to read. Am I overthinking it?

This looks totally normal for a 6 year old. I would be concerned if it caused issues down the road but simple mistakes are very common at this age.

Dyslexia is so much more than flipping letters and numbers... it’s a language based disorder that affects one’s ability to read accurately and fluently. Dyslexics will sometimes do letter or number reversals, but that is not always the case and shouldn’t be considered a red flag at a very young age. Both of my school age children do reversals, but only one of them has been diagnosed with dyslexia.

Yes she could.  I have it. So does my mom, brothers and even my husband. We all think my son will too.  I had to work very had to learn to read.  I could tell 6th grade. It’s a very long story. But see if you can get her evaluated. The early you can get help the better.  It’s so hard to understand as a kid that what you see is not what it is!!

Tbh I don’t know much about dyslexia other then it switches things around for some people but I do know while my sister did have it while we were young my mother started to think I was also dyslexic because just like your little girl I struggled the hardest with how a # 9 went or which way the letter P faced I also had issues with my number 7 and 6 also the letters B and D it took a lot of work on those individual letters and numbers to get me where I could figure it out but I was never diagnosed as dyslexic when we talked to the doctor about it they said if I was dyslexic then it would be more then just a couple of letters and numbers I’d be messing up entire words and way more numbers. But like I said I honestly don’t know much but that’s just what happened to me as a kid.
