Can I get fired from McDonald’s if...
Hey ladies. I’ve been working at McDonald’s since March as a part time employee. I am a college student with a very strict schedule due to my major (biology) and I’m only working at McDonald’s to receive the tuition assistance from them and to get a little extra money for fun stuff. I had changed my availability back in July, so about 3 weeks before school started to only working weekends (Friday - Sunday.) however, this past week, I was for some reason scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday to go in when I told them from the beginning that was not an option for me to do. I live on my college campus which is about 45 min to an hour away from my hometown and work place, and my car is also very old so I wasn’t about to drive it back and forth to work and back to school. I let the manager that makes the schedules know this twice, as well as wrote it down on a Paper and hung it up in the managers’ office so other managers could see it as well before I left for school on Sunday. Now, I am being blamed for having the shift managers short on crew for both days. I believe I did my part on letting them know when I was and wasn’t able to work, yet they’re still pin pointing me for it when I shouldn’t have even been placed on the schedule to begin with Now I’m worried that I could lose my job over it, Even though it’s extremely unfair. Is this allowed?
